Connections: "Tribe to Thrive" with Karl Shallowhorn
This Connections event will be guest hosted by a recent Founders Forum speaker, Karl Shallowhorn.
During this Connections event, we will discuss how to develop healthy, sustainable relationships, and how they can support mental health and wellness during the entrepreneurial journey.
Due to COVID making us more stressed and isolated than normal, it's necessary to understand the importance of these relationships, especially as our business is also impacted by these hard times.
As everyone is so eager to get "back to normal," will we entirely skip what might customarily be seen as the need for a recovery period that requires some recuperation? Reason would dictate that if we are not mindful of the need to "recover," we may reap the benefits later, and our Tribes are therefore that much more critical even once life goes back to the way it was.

Connections: When to Help
Founders First recently shared the results of our "When to Help" campaign. The objective of "When to Help" is to collect and share stories from entrepreneurs about their experience as founders, times at which they felt they were heading into a personal crisis, and when they wished they had gotten help along the way. In sharing these stories, we're hoping that others will have a deeper understanding of the challenges of the entrepreneurial journey.
As a way to broaden our impact, we thought we'd pose the topic to our Community members as a Connections event.
Questions to Consider:
Have you experienced a personal crisis during your entrepreneurial journey?
If so, what impact did your personal crisis have on you, your business, your team, and your relationships?
Looking back, what were the signs that you were heading for a crisis?
What types of help, encouragement or support might have made your journey easier, and may have kept you from reaching a crisis point?

Connections: Just Breathe
Breathwork has long been used as a tool to achieve mindfulness and calm. The practice of taking ten clearing breaths is frequently mentioned in our program, and the idea of using breathwork has often come up in our previous Founders Forum and Connections events. We even regularly write about the topic on our blog. All that to say, we thought it was about time to focus on breathing as the topic of its own event.
Questions to Consider:
Is breathwork a part of your daily routine?
What kinds of breathing techniques have worked for you?
What benefits have you experienced when using breathwork to find calm?

Stillness: Accomplishing Quiet
The issue of how we achieve "stillness" has come up again and again in our Founders First Community events. In its simplest form, stillness is merely the state of being still. It is characterized by quietness, silence, calmness, and inactivity.
We've decided to make "achieving stillness" a topic of discussion for an upcoming Connections event, given the level of interest among our community members. And what better time than in the New Year, as we all add "New Year's Resolutions" to our lengthy to-do lists.
Questions to Consider:
Is stillness a part of your daily routine? If so, what tools do you use to achieve it?
What have you found are the benefits you receive by incorporating stillness into your daily routine?
How long have you practiced stillness to achieve optimal results?

As we've discussed in prior Connections events, external stimuli can be very effective tools in helping us center, revive our mood and cleanse our minds. Music can be used in so many ways in this regard. Whether you are musically-gifted or just a listener, let's discuss how each of us use music in our regular routines.
Questions to consider:
Do you use music as an integral part of your routine?
Do you use music predominantly to soothe or stimulate?
Is music a solo or shared experience for you?

CONNECTIONS - Where founders connect, interact, share and learn.
Many of us have found useful tools and ways to cope when we feel most overwhelmed. When we’re freaking out and can't get calm. When we’re sidelined by a depressed mood and need to get back in the game. When the mind is frantic and we can't get focused enough to make a critical decision.
During this Connections event, we’ll be discussing those tools that pull us out of these desperate moments.
Questions to consider:
Do you have your own emergency go-to tool? If so, what is it?
How often do you find that you rely on an emergency tool
How effective is your emergency tool?
